What I thought about what I bought - Cosmetics

What I thought about what I bought - Cosmetics

1. The Body Shop - Honey Bronze:  I like this.  I have only used it twice so I am still learning how to use it best, but so far, so good.  It's labeled as a dry oil but it's a liquid product.  There is a very small hole in the lid and you have to shake out the product like ketchup from a jar but once you get the hang of it, it comes right out.

2. Bliss - Mattifying Pads:  Another good product.  This is a great oil remover but doesn't leave your face feeling tight.  It's also got a little texture so it helps give a deep clean.

3.  Cover FX - Mattifying primer:  This is pretty good.  It goes on clear and feels light and does a fairly good job as a mattifier.

4. NARS - Bronzer/blush combo:  I bought this in the impulse section of Sephora while I was waiting to check-out and love it.  The blush is their famous Orgasm color and it's a little brighter than what I was using but is great for summer when I have a tan.  I bought the mini-size to try it out but it's a little tricky with them being so small.  If you can use a little bronze/blush refresher, I'd recommend this but go ahead and invest in the normal size.  Sephora is great about returning products if you don't like them.

5.  Living Proof - Amplifier:  I am so sad to give this a thumbs down.  I was in Ulta looking for my normal hair powder/texturizer and saw this so I decided to try it.  My hair is short and fine so I need some help with volume.  This product has the consistency of a light lotion and the directions say to rub in your hands until it's transparent and then apply it.  It smells nice and didn't leave any greasy residue but also wasn't helpful for volume.  I tried it three times to be sure but unfortunately, it's not a good fit for my hair.

What are your favorite products of the moment?  Don't forget the sunscreen!

The perfect weekender

Summer is here and I am ready for some weekend getaways.  I have a couple totes that are great but I find I am always carrying a separate cosmetics bag so I am on the hunt for a duffle-style carrier to give me a little more room.
I found choices some great online.  I am really loving the ones that offer a separate zippered section for shoes.  Here's to a fun-filled summer with lots of weekend trips!

Epcot Adventures

Guess which auntie braved a third grade field trip to Epcot.  This girl.  12.5 hours, at Epcot, with a bunch of nine year-old girls...to be exact.  It was more fun than I was expecting.  Growing up, Epcot had always kind of been known as the boring park with no rides.  It was so much fun hanging out with Payton and her friends and I will definitely be back.
My favorite part of the park was the area where you tour nine different countries.  They had a beautiful garden area and lots of great food.  If you haven't added this to your vacation list, I'd highly recommend it.

New my favorite (calorie saving) kitchen accessory

I am a little late to the party but better late than never.  About a month ago I bought an infusion pitcher from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was $30.00 and had I had a coupon, I could have saved a few bucks.
I went to a party at a friend's house last summer and sipped some berry infused water and have been interested ever since.  I bought my sister and step-mom pitchers for Christmas and grabbed one for myself last month.
I am from the south so my go-to drink is sweet tea.  I don't drink much soda or alcohol so I hadn't felt guilty for sipping sweet tea but now that I have an infuser, I enjoy saving the calories.
I should stalk Pinterest for some recipes as so far, I have only tried raspberries (didn't care for) and lemons (love these).
I find myself refilling my pitcher almost every day so I am drinking a lot more than I used to and have no second thoughts about caloric intake.  I am due for a facial so I am hoping to sweet-talk the hostess at the spa into newrecipe.  Have you tried the fruit infused pitcher?  If not, I highly recommend.  I'd love to hear a favorite recipe if you have one. :)

Summer on my mind

May is here, it's my official start to summer.  I have a family trip on Memorial Day and a work trip the following weekend.  I am mentally preparing for my trips and am searching for a few new pieces.  I have come to love a bandeau top suit so I avoid tan lines as much as possible.  I love simple pieces that can be tossed in a beach bag and thrown on.  These MK sandals are so cute and would look great with shorts or a maxi.
What are your summer plans?

Tomorrow is unknown

So many crazy things happening around us lately.  The missing plane, the ferry that was filled with hundreds of high school kids sunk and of course this crazy, unexpected weather.  Little ol' Pensacola, Florida, my work's corporate office was closed this week due to 17 inches of rain in just 12 hours.  Some of my colleagues sent my pictures today of roads that were there yesterday and gone today.  Totally gone.

Personally, things have been a little crazy too.  Next month marks a year since my father-in-law passed away, just nine short months after finding out he had cancer.  On New Year's Eve, we found out my mother-in-law now does too.

2014 has gotten off to a shaky start but here's to appreciating what we have.  The little things, the big things. Tomorrow is a privilege, denied to many.
