Two birthdays, two trophies

Another fun-filled week in the books!
I am so lucky have have my sisters and parents all within 20 minutes of me.  Last week my Dad and my oldest niece Payton celebrated birthdays.  My Dad had a low-key birthday this year but we got to go all out for Payton.

We went to an Orlando Magic game on Wednesday for her eighth birthday and had a great time.  We spent the entire first quarter shopping in the arena getting some fan gear.  We got hats, sunglasses and an Orlando Magic piggy bank.

Simon was able to make it home for the weekend.  His days are scattered so getting an entire weekend at home is a treat.  We went with our friend Rob and my little sister Jessica to one of our favorite restaurants, Taverna Opa in Orlando.  A few appetizers, some loud music and a couple table dances later and we headed back home to officially start the weekend.  If you get the chance, find a Taverna Opa near you and make a night of it. You will love it.

OPA!
The weekend is here...let's RACE!  My Dad and I went to Hobe Sound, about 100 miles south of us and raced our go-karts.  We got rained out Saturday so ended being at the racetrack most of the weekend.  After eight hours of driving back and forth, six hours of rain and two days of racing we finished with a first, two seconds and a third between the two of us.  It was my first time racing on asphalt, instead of dirt and I am so sore today!  The G forces going around the track sling you into the sides of the kart and I am bruised down my right side.  Growing up is no fun at all.

It's Tuesday already of another week.  This month is flying by and it's finally chilly out.  Finally....January is almost over and the cooler temps have arrived.  We only get a couple days of cooler temps at a time in this part of Florida so we get really excited when they are here.  (Can you tell?)

The (electric) fireplace is on tonight and I am catching up on The Real Housewives episodes I missed last week....until we meet again. :)

New Year, New Fun!

Hello 2013!
My husband Simon is traveling more with his job and I am traveling less so I have found some extra time during the week.  Since I am not much of a movie buff and only follow a few shows on TV, I thought this would be a fun way to spend my extra time....so here I am.

My work week had a lot going on.  Simon went to the national championship game in Miami.  He is from Alabama and is a very loyal fan.  His best friend Jarrod has an RV so they hung out for a few days and had a blast.  He met Taylor Hicks and snapped a quick pic.  (Jarrod is on the left, Simon is on the right)

Simon and Jarrod made it home Tuesday and hung out one more night before Jarrod headed back to Atlanta. Wednesday I had annual reviews at work so I went to bed early Tuesday, came home worn out and snuck into bed early again on Wednesday.  I went to bed on "baby watch" excited to keep checking my phone for updates.  Our friends (and Roll Tide fans) Mike & Tiffany gave birth to their first child Thursday night.  So exciting!

With a busy week in the books, I took it easy this weekend.  I have had such a relaxing weekend I almost feel guilty.  I am "in between" seasons for several activities and I forgot what life can be without a full schedule.  Yesterday I got a haircut and a pedicure and cruised over to Port Canaveral for lunch with my sister Holly's family.

I just spoke to Simon and he was in Connecticut.  It is in the 40's there.  I happen to be in the Sunshine State and it has been near 80 all week.  I have been outside (wearing shorts) with the dogs soaking up our grueling winter weather.  I am hoping it gets cool before spring arrives, I have several cute scarves and a new pair of boots I'd like to get some use from before the really warm temps set in.

I have lots of stuff coming up this next week.  My Dad's birthday is Tuesday, my niece Payton's birthday is Wednesday and I am racing on Saturday.

Hope y'all have a great week! :)
