Recipe: Adults Only (Fireball) Cherries

Looking for a fun treat to bring to an adults only party?  This is it.  Fireball is everywhere.  I am a sissy and can barely take a shot of it.  These sweet treats make a great party app or even hostess gift.
A friend of mine recently shared this little surprise and we tried it at a family BBQ recently. Everyone loved them and the best part is they are beyond easy to prepare.

Buy any size maraschino cherries.  Pour out half the cherry juice and refill with Fireball Whisky.
That's it.  Stick it back in the fridge and let them sit overnight.  We served with skewers in a bowl.
They could be moved to a plastic container for travel and would be great for tailgating.

For your next event, you've got to try these babies!  Happy Tuesday, friends.

Weekend Rewind: Adventures with Dad

Just when I thought summer temps were here, we ended up with a three-day cold snap.  Saturday was a wild day.  After a last minute racetrack change due to rain, we leave to go to Tampa Saturday morning.  About halfway there, we got a flat tire on the trailer.  With all the towing we do, it's not that unusual but still such a bummer.
My pops is a pro and had the tire changed and us back on the road in about 15 minutes.

After getting back on the road we were stuck in traffic an extra hour from a wreck on I-75.  And I thought we were having a bad day.......

I am on the road so much for work and I really take for granted how often I get to go from destination to destination without any issues.
We got to the racetrack more than an hour late and it was packed.  We ended up having a good night but ended really late and once again, it was nearly 2:00am before I was home.  I swear I am out late more often with my Dad than I when I was in my 20s.

Sunday was a day of rest.  I caught up with one of my closest girlfriends of 20+ years and we went to Port Canaveral for lunch.  The weather was beyond picture perfect.  The skies were so blue, it was like a postcard.  I had the best company too.  No matter the time or distance, we always pick up like we are still in high school.  I truly cherish the friendships I have now, especially those that have extended decades.
I finally kicked my cold from last week and am ready for a super week.  I have some fun stuff to share from last week....stay tuned.

Baby Shower Gift Idea

I haven't had many baby showers lately but had one last Sunday.  I have a couple good go-to gifts and this is one of my favorites.  My girlfriend was registered at Target and that is so easy but there is no good way to package random goodies in a glam way.

My inflatable duck is a good go-to.  It's $12 from Target and holds lots of stuff.  I used our pool toy air compressor and it was blown up in just a minute.  From there, I placed some tissue across the bottom and stacked up the gifts.  For his bow, I took two pre-made curled ribbons, added them to ribbon and tied it around his neck for a little decorative touch.

Gift bags are prob $6-$8 to hold all these and for just a few dollars more, the wow factor is worth it.  It's also super useful for a baby bath afterwards.  Cute huh?!  Have a super weekend, friends!

Recipe: Ice Cream Sammies

I have the sweetest recipe to share today!  My niece and I made these tasty treats for my husband's birthday party.  These are three ingredients and super simple.

You'll need:
Cookies (we used chewy versus crunchy packaged cookies)
Ice cream (we used vanilla)
Sprinkles (we used chocolate)

Set out a work area.  You'll need a spoon or scoop for the ice cream, cookies ready to assemble and sprinkles in a bowl.  The only trick is you have to work fast or in a few sessions because the ice cream melts quick.

Each sandwich takes just a minute and then we moved them straight to the freezer.  They firmed up overnight and everyone LOVED them.  They were also MUCH easier than trying to scoop icecream for each person.  We passed these out and they were gone in minutes.

We made half chocolate chip and half with Reece's cups and they were all so tasty.  You have got to try them for your next outing or even for some make-ahead desserts for the week. :)  Enjoy.

Recipe: Overnight Breakfast Casserole (no morning cooking)

Disclosure:  These pictures are terrible.  The dish is so delish and these pictures do NOTHING to back up my claims.  :)  I LOVE recipes like this because you can add nearly anything you'd like.  It's one of those great dishes that you can throw together with what you have around the house.

I used:
30 oz frozen hash browns
Two - 8 oz. packets of diced ham from the meat department
Two cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Diced green pepper
12 eggs
One cup of milk
Salt and pepper to taste

We have a 4-quart slow cooker and I put it on low for 8 hours.

Add hash browns to the slow cooker, add diced ham, veggies, add two cups of cheese.  Mix 12 eggs plus one cup of milk and salt/pepper to taste and pour over mix.  Fold in and start slow cooker.

Recipe variations: Sausage, veggie variety, cheese variety of your choice.  My husband and niece woke up before me and it was perfect to wake up to breakfast ready to roll.  No cooking AT ALL!  They loved it and so did I.  Enjoy!

Weekend Rewind: A little bit of everything

Hey friends.  Hope you are off to a great week.  I had a rare weekend with no soccer and no racing so we packed in several other events. :)

To zip back to Friday, a high school friend Marc, invited me to a business event Friday at the Amway Arena.  He works with Fox Sports where they hosted Court of Dreams, an annual event where you do some networking and get to play basketball on the official NBA court.  I was terribly worried because I am 5'2" and haven't played basketball since junior high and this was the real deal.  We had two Orlando Magic announcers, officials and played in a mini-tournament for an hour or so.  We had a lot of fun although I didn't have the courage to actually shoot until the last few minutes.

Fast forward to Saturday....my niece Payton competed in her first wakeboard competition.  It started at 9:00am so no sleeping in for me.  The weather was amazing and she did great.  It was her first time competing so she was a little nervous but it was a fun experience.  She is amazing.  I took my camera and got some great pictures.

Once I got home Saturday we had a little relaxing by the pool and had to prepare for a BUSY Sunday with a baby shower in the morning and my husband's birthday party in the afternoon.  I have lots to share (recipes + gift ideas) from those events in the days to come.......I will sign off for now with a cute pic of my niece Logan and my husband before we started the Sunday festivities.

A lucky day to get married

14 years today!  WOW.  It's almost hard to process.  It seems like yesterday in so many ways and yet seems like forever at the same time.  We didn't plan to wed on St. Patrick's Day but the place we chose is booked up waaayyyy in advance and this was the date the wedding happened to fall on.
Here are some memories of us from 2001.....

Five Spring Finds

Ahhhh....alas, the change of seasons is here.  I just ordered a few new goodies and am still on the hunt for a few transition pieces.

I so badly want to downsize my purse.  I am on the look-out for a medium sized bag that can convert to a crossbody.  So far, this is a front runner.  I want to check it out in person for size.  I want a neutral color to carry everyday and she has a few really lovely designs.

I was feeling bold and ordered this necklace last week.  I am hoping it arrives tonight when I get home so I can test drive it at work tomorrow.  It's casual Friday so I am going to dress it down to start and see how it looks.

I got a new chambray top.  I had one from JCrew but it was a heavy weight and felt boxy on me.  I got this softened style and it's a better fit and will be better as the temps rise.

I am not usually the lip liner type but I got this from Mac and love it.  It doesn't really stay on long but it is so nice.  There are lots of colors....I got Pink Treat.

Lastly, I grabbed this palette from Urban Decay.  It's full of fresh neutrals and is easy to layer.
What's on your spring shopping list?  I have a few things in my online carts....we'll see what ends up getting delivered.  :)

Weekend Rewind: 75 and sunny

Wow.  What a perfecto weekend of gorgeous weather.  Saturday was opening day for my soccer team.  It was a little chilly in the morning but warmed up to 75 degrees and it was amazing.
My girls did awesome and started the season with a win.  They are all 10 years old now and at a funny age.  They are so e-m-o-t-i-o-n-a-l.  We really hear it all on the fields.  I can tell you family stuff, who got in trouble at school and everything in between.  It is sweet too, they are still affectionate and often looking for hugs.  My co-coach James has a 6 month old and they all think they are his mom.  Too cute.

After soccer, I did some shopping around for porch furniture and worked around the house to catch up from being gone the last several weekends.  We even had a little bonfire Saturday night at a friend's house and hung out for a while before these cool temps slip away for the summer.

Off to work I go......I will be on the road several days this week.  Hoping for sunny weather and safe roads.  Have a super week!

Back Porch Crush

Warmer temps have snuck into the air and I am so committed to getting my back porch looking good.  I have been on the hunt online for some inspiration.  I am normally one of neutrals but am loving some of the furniture selections with rich colors.  I am fairly sure I want the rattan/wicker look and probably one of a darker stain.  I really love the look of some sort of white drapey curtains hung high like a cabana and would love some sort of fire place/fire pit.
Pinterest is the easiest spot to get great ideas in one spot and they are plentiful.  Here are some of my current fave looks.....
